Chicago Classic Brass
ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE
The Chicago Classic Brass performs a unique repertoire
of light classical and popular selections including works by Bach,
Bizet, Gershwin, Joplin, and Sousa. Hailed as "Sensational"
and "Heartwarming" the five highly talented musicians
from the Chicago Area perform throughout the midwest. |
 | Charles Schuchat, Tuba,
Charles has
performed and recorded with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony
and Israel Philharmonic. In addition to being principal tuba with
the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Charles is a member of Tower Brass.
Charles is also principal tuba with the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra
and a member of the award winning Asbury Brass Quintet. He has
participated in numerous music festivals including the Spoleto
Festival, Ravinia Festival, Grant Park and Tanglewood Music Festival.
While at Tanglewood he received the CD Jackson Award for Achievement.
He spent the 1997-98 season as principal tuba of the Israel Philharmonic,
and is currently a faculty member at both Northern Illinois University
and the Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University.
Charles is a native of Washington, DC. He is a graduate of Northwestern
University where he studied with Arnold Jacobs. |

 | William Camp, Trumpet
William, who currently
resides in Chicago, is originally from Niles Michigan. Camp earned
his music degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and The University
of Michigan. His principal instructors include Gene Young, Louis
Davidson, Armando Ghitalla, and Arnold Jacobs. Now in his fourteenth
year as a traveling performer in the Chicago area, Camp has appeared
with the Lake Forest Symphony, South Bend Symphony, Springfield
Symphony, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, and American
Ballet Theater Orchestra. His recording with the Dallas Winds
and Chicago Chamber Brass, called "The Brass And The Band,"
has received national acclaim. |

 | Edgar Campos, Trumpet
Edgar, originally from Costa Rica, was a member of the Chicago Civic
Orchestra. He also performs with the Chicago Symphony and the
Chicago Sinfonietta. Edgar has performed with a variety of orchestras
in the area as well as the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa
Rica and the World Youth Symphony. He received a Master of Music
Degree from
Roosevelt University and his Bachelors Degree from Conservatoire
de Musique de Quebec. His trumpet teachers include Adolph Herseth
of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), Marc Ridenour of the
CSO, Channing Philbrick of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Robert
Platt from the Berlin Philharmonic. The Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation
awarded him with a second prize in National Competition and third
prize in the National Music Festival. |

 | John Schreckengost, Horn
Raised in Cleveland,
John received his BM from Butler University, and a MM from Bowling
Green State University. Currently residing in Chicago he performs
with Northwest Indiana Symphony, Chicago Sinfonietta, and the
Illinois Philharmonic. John has performed with the Chicago Symphony,
Israel Sinfonietta, Haifa Symphony, Israel Chamber Orchestra,
and the Jerusalem Symphony. John has also been a soloist with
a variety of Orchestras. The Nutcracker Orchestra, American Ballet
Theatre and Joffrey Ballet also could not resist his expertise.
Promoting new works for horn, recordings, commercials and chamber
music, John brings the word "free-lance" to new heights. |

 | Michael Joyce, Trombone
Michael was born and raised in Winnipeg,
Manitoba and arrived in Chicago in the fall of 1997 after a two
year North American tour with the musical review"Andrew Lloyd-Webber's
- Music of the Night". Before the tour he played with the
Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for three years, and was principal
trombone with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Tour Orchestra. His professional
experience includes over 30 theatrical musical productions, studio
recording, live and recorded performances of jazz and classical
music on television and radio as well as leading his own Big Band.
Mike is currently enjoying a busy schedule in Chicago with engagements
ranging from theatre, to symphony, to small ensemble performing
and teaching. |
Chicago Classic Brass has a very large repertoire. These sample
programs are but a few of the pieces that are available. Please
